Dear Sirs ~ David Witts & Vernon Smith
On reading the 'Tewkesbury News' dated 31 January 08 and the article therein
I followed it up by going on to the Internet, reading your report in full,
from start to finish. It is obvious from the detail in the report that you
worked long and hard, well done!
I found it sombre reading and sincerely hope that it is read by all in this
area, whether they experience flooding or not. I am alarmed at how easily
truth and reason can be manipulated with very little disregard for the
serious consequences. If your report fails to get a proper and fair
'reading' we in this town and nearby areas will be left to 'fate.'
It is impossible for us to calculate the effect this has had on the elderly
in terms of stress. I should imagine that any home with a GL20 Post Code
will have sustained some measure of loss financially. I do not understand
how anyone having seen the televised pictures of this town will want to buy
a property here.... who will be buying all the new ones!
I am relatively new to this town and did not suffer flood damage in July
2007 (living in Gravel Walk.) Water levels in my 'wet cellar' rose to
approximately 15" but no long term damage was sustained.
I will be forwarding your web site to all I know and hope that there will be
huge ground swell of opinion supporting your Report.
Sincerely Yours
Evelyn Guddat

My name is Mr .M.J Bayliss, I was born in
Tewkesbury and lived there for 44 yrs and moved away to the Cotswolds. Even
though we moved my heart still remains to dear old Tewkesbury. We watched
with horror on the TV and read it in the papers, I spent one night in the
car when it all started away from my family, once off the TV and out of the
papers people tend to forget. Our thoughts are with all those families who
lost it all and are trying to start again. Is this a sign of what kind of
weather we will all come to see or is it down to local council and the
government? They say people are living longer and more houses needed but we
all need to look at where it is safe to build those houses than putting
money first than people. I know deep down that Tewkesbury will come through
this as I know it is a close community. So all of you keep your spirits high
and learn from what man has done to our world.
