2. Matters arising from last minutes
Another company sign on the side of the main road opposite Boys Brigade building has been noticed, this one is chained to a post. NACRA to ask Vernon Smith to have a word with Richard Walters about getting it removed.
Dave Witts
said the Tewkesbury Tri Initiative Exhibition in the town hall was well received and good suggestions came from it. There is a stakeholders meeting this Wednesday at 12 midday to follow up the good work done so far.Graham Dawson
stated ‘Newtown Tewkesbury’ is the name of the facebook site used to inform anyone of events and interesting articles about our area of Tewkesbury.Becky Jael
is to hold an evening meeting and is to invite a member of the Environment Agency (EA) to attend. The date is to be arranged, either end of August or beginning of September. There has been
a complaint from Mr John Smith at Tirlebrook Way about the Tirlebrook not getting cleaned out, and, he states, the records show drainage pipes going through an incorrect path. Vernon Smith went on to tell NACRA about the meeting he had with Mr Smith and Mrs Michelle Harwood, both from Tirlebank Way. They had shown Vernon blocked pipes and stagnant water lying in the brook. Also a woman from Kingsgate had met Vernon about the same subject and she was in tears about the state of the Tirlebrook. Vernon went on to say that NACRA was to ‘keep beating the drum’ about matters to do with flooding problems. People with house insurance are still experiencing excess increases. The EA has stopped GCC completing any further work on the Tirlebrook as mink have been reported in the area. There is to be a survey before the schedule can move forward, hopefully starting again on 1
st October. GCC is to send a letter to everyone affected along the Tirlebrook, stating that GCC will be doing the work this time, but after that it is the responsibility of the landowner themselves. There has been a £20K funding from GCC to do more work.Vernon went on to state that Mrs Berry and Mr Brian Cooper , whose properties border Walton Cardiff Lane, have experienced slippage in their gardens due to the ditch work along the lane. GCC have offered £2K to rework the problem as they feel partly responsible, the problem at the moment is the lack of urgency to do the work. It was suggested that NACRA write a letter to TBC on behalf of Mrs Berry and Mr Cooper to get the work done as soon as possible. The Severn and Avon Group have already sent a
letter. Vernon gave a ‘big thank you’ to NACRA committee for all the support about flooding aspects over the past three years.
3. Any Other Business
There will be no NACRA meeting in August.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) Open Meeting will be on Thursday September 23rd at Tirlebrook School at 7pm. It was suggested by Janet that there will be no guest speakers but to have an ‘Open hour’ asking the residents what they expect from the NACRA organisation. If anyone wanted to propose a guest speaker they should contact either Janet or Julie to get it arranged. As normal committee members are being asked to donate a raffle prize for the meeting. There will be fliers to deliver prior to the September Open Meeting.
Angie Thompson
stated that there was excessive noise at night coming from Cotteswold Dairy. NACRA to write a letter to the dairy and Vernon said he would also have a talk with Philip Workman about the subject. The ‘Friends of Derek Graham Playground Group’
has asked what residents want in the way of equipment at the Walton Cardiff Play Area for the younger children. They also said that they are trying to organise a picnic soon, maybe on a Saturday in the play area.Graham Dawson
asked Sherry Piper about what she could do about children gathering at the end of Pyke Road near the garage at nights, and also in fields at the back of the motorway. Sherry said she would keep a watchful eye on both areas.Angie Thompson
asked Sherry about motor bikes going down the new cycle path; again Sherry would monitor the situation.Angie also asked about the extra dog bins, promised for the cycle path, Andy Smith stated that he had ordered them.
Steve Tandy
stated his intention to retire from the committee after the AGM; he has been on the committee since it started after the 2007 flooding and has been Minutes Sec since March 2008. Dave Witts said he would stand for election as Minutes Secretary at the AGM.Jane Lucking
wants to retire as Treasurer after the AGM; she has been treasurer for over two years.Janet, on behalf of the committee, thanked Jane and Steve for all their good work over the years.
Janet thanked everyone for attending. The meeting closed around 8.09pm.
