Minutes

These were accepted as a true record. The secretary was reminded to provide a hard copy for Angie.

There were no matters arising not included in the agenda.

AOB:

Pete Aldridge raised the issue of disabled access to the Derek Graham Memorial Playing Field. At present, disabled access to the new play area is wholly inadequate, leaving wheelchair users in particular at a severe disadvantaged. He had notified Tewkesbury Town Council and reminded them of their need to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act as soon as practicable.

NACRA was represented at the Tewkesbury Remembrance Sunday parade, but the Chairman was unable to attend as short notice.

The committee was advised that Peter Goodger, the Head Teacher at Tirlebrook school had stated his intention to retire at the end of the Summer term.  The governors had begun the process of recruiting a replacement.

BB Hut:  John McCloy, Borough Councillor for Newtown provided information that the legal processes involved in the change of ownership of the BB Hut from Tewkesbury Borough to the Boys Brigade were very nearly complete and were simply waiting for some minor details to be ironed out before completion.

SARA:  Pete Aldridge advised that a Police SARA was in operation in Alexandra Way to address the problem of lorries parking overnight and drivers using the area as an open toilet. Concern was expressed that this may push the problem back to Delta Drive.

Noise from Cotteswold Dairy.  Angie Thompson expressed her frustration that there seemed to be no permanent solution to the problem of noise nuisance to residents of Newtown Lane from the Cotteswold Dairy site. Complaints invariably resulted in respite for a few hours or days, but the noise invariably returned within a week. The main problem was HGVs running refrigeration units for long periods instead of using site supplies. Peter Aldridge agreed to speak to Roger Workman of Cotteswold Dairy and arrange a meeting with residents if necessary.

Next Meeting:  17 January 2011 at 1900 hrs.

G S Dawson, Chairman
